Every Coffee Needs a Lotus

Lotus Biscoff finally lands in Manila all the way from Europe. Known as “The In-Flight Treat” with more than 90 million Biscoff biscuits consumed last year in the US alone, it’s no surprise how people are excited to finally have their coffee with a Lotus Biscoff cookie here in the country.

I was blessed to be invited in Lotus Biscoff’s exclusive media launch last week in Makati. Truly, it’s a first class experience sipping hot, freshly-brewed coffee with a bite of these deliciously crunchy caramelized biscuits. Here’s a tip, bite a small piece of the cookie, let it melt a bit in your mouth, and take a sip of hot brewed coffee. Ang sarapI tell you!  The subtle sweetness of each biscuit complements coffee well. This unique taste come’s from the sugar’s caramelization during the baking process. A hint of cinnamon and other spices also add a special twist.

Since 1932,  Lotus Biscoff biscuits have been Europe’s coffee break favorite. It has come a long way from its humble beginnings in the small town of Lembeke n Belgium. Its founders, the Boone brothers, used to bake and pack these cookies then deliver them in their trademark red truck. In the 1950s, pairing Lotus Biscoff with coffee became a custom in Belgian hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops. Then finally, in 1985, Europe’s favorite cookie became America’s favorite cookie with air travel. Aside from America’s Delta Airlines, it is also served in each flight of Brussels Airlines, Middle East Airlines, and El Al of Israel.

Equally yummy is Lotus Biscoff spread which is made of original Lotus Biscoff cookies . Its sweet, creamy goodness is the best alternative to nut butters and chocolate spreads. My boy even loves to have a spoonful of it straight from the jar as dessert! It think I’ll have it with my favorite fruit to make it more healthy, teehee! By the way, both Lotus Biscoff cookies and spreads are GMO-free, have zero cholesterol, and are not made with artificial color or preservatives.

Lotus Biscoff is exclusively distributed here in Manila by Fly Ace Corporation, the same distributor of well-loved brands such as Welch’s, Mott’s, Franzia, Doña Elena, and Jolly. For more information about Lotus Biscoff, you may visit www.biscoff.com.
