Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar, Capitol Commons

The Pasig Kapitolyo area has started to gain popularity for having quite a number of must-try restaurants and hole-in-the-wall foodie havens. Honestly, I’m already living in the East side of Manila and just in the town next to Pasig but I haven’t even scratched the surface, so to speak. Last week, I found the time to visit Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar in Capitol Commons, Pasig, and boy I’m glad I did!

It was lunchtime when I arrived and the place was already starting to get crowded with yuppies taking their lunch break. Capitol Commons’ close proximity to the offices along Shaw Boulevard and the Ortigas Business District explains this.

J.Coffee, an excellent way to start your day

People would normally associate J.Co only with its delicious and cleverly named donuts – that’s me included. When I enter a J.Co store, my ultimate agenda would be to buy boxes of its assorted treats which would include our ultimate favorites such as Alcapone, Avocado Dicaprio, Tiramisu, and the simple yet delish, Glazzy.

However, as its name implies, J.CO not only serves mouth-watering donuts but brews up cups of delicious coffee, as well, in the form of its “J.COFFEE” hand-crafted beverages. In Indonesia, where it’s originally from, J.Co is known as a lifestyle cafed that serves best-tasting coffee with delectable donuts. (Now, that explains why their donuts are not too sweet which we definitely love...

Fisherfarms Garlic Fish Longaniza

2015 proves to be Our Food Trip’s year! It’s just January, yet we already have so many food trips to write. And one of the many blessings that came early this year is the bag of goodies that arrived from Fisherfarms!

Part of our loot is a bag of this yummy Fisherfarms Garlic Fish Longaniza. Since we’re eating more healthy and less pork dishes, I was really happy to see that they have longaniza made of bangus (milkfish). It’s high-protein and low in cholesterol and fat at the same time which is best for a hypertensive like me.

So we had it early this morning and it was really good. Actually, the taste is similar to pork longaniza because there’s no fishy taste.  Surprisingly, its plant-based casing is still intact even after frying just like pork longaniza.

Ramen Cravings satisfied at Tamagoya Noodle House

For our first food trip for 2015, the boys and I did not travel far. Instead, we decided just cross Marcos Highway and discover something new in Marikina City. The original plan was to try out any of the hole-in-the-wall restos along Lilac Street but, coming from a short errand in Cubao, we took Sumulong Highway and ended up being greeted by Tamagoya Noodle House as we took a left turn to Hon. B. Soliven. Since we were all craving for Japanese, we parked the car and lined up for seats.

Tamagoya Noodle House appeared to be a popular Japanese restaurant in the area judging from the queue of customers that Saturday night. The place had two floors but it was really jampacked. While waiting, we busied ourselves with choosing what to order once we get our seats.
