Are you ready for a one-of-a-kind food trip around BGC? If your tummy is ready, then make sure you get to hop on of the BGC bus that’s going around BGC for the BGC Eats food tour!
BGC Eats takes its participants into a unique culinary tour that will explore the best foodie havens that started in the 240-hectare urban development of Bonifacio Global City.
Led by known food connoisseur and blogger and BGC resident, JJ Yulo, the food tour happens every weekend from June 29 to July 20, 2013. However, JJ said that the tour might extend for a few more weekends depending on turnout of its first 4 Saturdays.
I was blessed to have been part of the tour and hopped on the bus for the tour with my foodie blogger friends and other media people.
Our first stop was at Wildflour Cafe and Bakery which incidentally was at the Ground Floor of Net Lima Building along 26th Street where the husband works. All seats are usually filled up at mealtimes in this cozy cafe and bakery so I really haven’t tried dining here with the husband yet. When I tasted their pizza, I immediately understood why people are lining up in this place. The dough was crisp to perfection. But that’s just our first stop so I just had a small bite. My tummy still had to prepare for 3 more stops!
Next stop is another pizza place, Nolita. Located at the posh Bonifacio High Street, Nolita (short for North of Little Italy) serves big authentic New York style pizzas and other American comfort food. I honestly did not know what to choose so I asked for a slice of their best selling Chicken Parmesan pizza.
For our third stop, we walked a block and went up a flight of stairs to 2nd’s along 9th Avenue. This is my most favorite stop of all because the place was quiet and homey which is usually what I look for when I dine out with the boys. We were served a plate of The Benedict Burger (beef patty, fried egg, wild arugula, thyme hollandaise, and spam) and the to-die-for Bacon Chicharon! Gah, I think I died of cholesterol overload and went straight to heaven. I’m bringing the boys here with me next time!
Last stop, of course, was desserts at Cupcakes by Sonja at Serendra. Omigosh, it was a buffet of cupcakes and other sweet baked treats! I’m not really much of a sweet tooth so I just took a bite of the red velvet cupcake. I brought my unfinished cupcake home and ate it for breakfast the next day, haha! My tummy was so full by the time we arrived at Serendra!
