Relax and Refresh with ChaLife Milk Tea

A lot of milk tea shops have sprouted in the Metro lately. Clearly, the milk tea craze has taken Manila by storm. What’s there not to love about milk tea, anyway? Hot or cold? I drink it either way. I prefer to have cold refreshing milk tea in the afternoon and on hot days and warm relaxing milk tea to cap the night. But let’s admit it, it’s not that convenient to have milk tea all the time. Oftentimes, I’m already too tired to prepare a mug after a stressful day. My budget doesn’t allow me to buy regularly from the shops either.

ChaLife Milk Tea
Thankfully, I discovered ChaLife Milk Tea. At only Php 7.50 per sachet, it’s not only affordable but convenient to prepare anytime, anywhere. It tastes good too. I usually ask for 75% sweetness in milk tea shops and ChaLife almost gives that same amount of sweetness. A tip though, it’s best to dilute the mixture first in hot water first for easy mixing if you want to enjoy it cold.

Chill and grill with Dowell Grill Express

Our family loves eating grilled food. I prefer grilled over fried but sometimes, grilling can be a hassle. I hate being the one to fire up the grill because that could mean frantically fanning the charcoal and inhaling all the smoke. I bet you don’t like that either. Fortunately,  we can still have an enjoyable barbecue with the family minus the stress with the new Dowell Grill Express.

STK ta Bay! sa Paolito’s Seafood House

Booking ourselves a room in Gran Tierra Suites near the Cebu City capitol proved to be an advantage as we were just within walking distance to the restaurants in Orchid Street. On our first night in Cebu, we had dinner at Kuya J Restaurant which is just across STK ta Bay! STK ta Bay! was already crowded when we arrived. Thus, on our second night, we made sure that we arrive in the place early enough to reserve us some good seats.

Just like Kuya J’s, STK ta Bay! was once a home that was converted into a restaurant. Food is grilled by the garage entrance which also serves as a dining area should it becomes crowded inside.

Kainan sa Tabing Lawa

Our latest food trip sent us driving more than an hour away from our place in Cainta. It was my husband who discovered it after watching it being featured on a show one Sunday. As it turns out, Kainan sa Tabing Lawa has been one of Tanay’s famous restaurants since the 60’s.

Lately, we have been eating in what I call, “don’t judge a book by its cover” restaurants. (Remember, Tamerlane’s?) Kainan sa Tabing Lawa is an addition to that growing list. Outside, it just looks like a big rustic cottage built of nipa and bamboo. Inside is an eatery with ordinary looking chairs and tables. No airconditioning, too.
