Back when we were still living in Makati and Rap was in Prep at the Don Bosco Technical Institute, we would always dine at Amici de Don Bosco. I never got to eat there for lunch because the place would always be full of office workers taking their lunch break. Usually, I would have merienda there with other soccer moms while we wait for our boys to finish their training. Those were such happy times! Their pizza and pasta were my comfort food. The year was 2006.

Fast forward to 2013, the once quaint Italian “carinderia” has now grown to include 7 more branches around the metro under the management of the father and son team of Danny and Philip Moran. Even after acquiring the business from the Salesian priests who set up and managed the restaurant in 2007, the Morans continue to maintain the friendship by supporting Tuloy Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Salesian priest, Fr. Rocky Evangelista. In fact, Php 10 from the sales of items listed in the “Tuloy Speciali” Amici Menu goes directly to the foundation to help fund their projects.

In celebration of their 6th year in the business, Amici recently introduced 10 new dishes to their menu. Prepare to drool as I tempt you with these food shots!

We love holding parties at home, especially when we started living in our own home. There’s this certain sense of pride that I feel when guests give us compliments. I also love cooking for our guests and serving food using my own collection of ceramic and glass dishes. It gets boring, though, when you get to use the same dishes in every event so I really make it a point to buy a few new ones when the budget permits.

At its recently held, “Chill in The City” event, Urban Kitchen launched “easy living” and “easy entertaining” solutions for the modern home. I was blessed to be invited at the event where I personally saw Urban Kitchen’s array of quality kitchen and tableware products. The items are made of unbreakable plastic and are very trendy and stylish.

For our recent trip to Singapore, my boy did his research and specifically concentrated on finding the best hawker centers in town. Aside from finding about Kopitiam, he was also able to read about Old Chang Kee. Luckily, we passed by the stall along North Bridge Road just across Funan Digitalife Mall so we bought some of their bestsellers for snacks back at our hotel.
