Ramen Cravings satisfied at Tamagoya Noodle House

For our first food trip for 2015, the boys and I did not travel far. Instead, we decided just cross Marcos Highway and discover something new in Marikina City. The original plan was to try out any of the hole-in-the-wall restos along Lilac Street but, coming from a short errand in Cubao, we took Sumulong Highway and ended up being greeted by Tamagoya Noodle House as we took a left turn to Hon. B. Soliven. Since we were all craving for Japanese, we parked the car and lined up for seats.

Tamagoya Noodle House appeared to be a popular Japanese restaurant in the area judging from the queue of customers that Saturday night. The place had two floors but it was really jampacked. While waiting, we busied ourselves with choosing what to order once we get our seats.

1st Colonial Grill, Naga City Centro

In the summer of 2014, my business had me and Alex driving to Legazpi City in Albay. Being the adventurous foodies that we are, of course, we also grabbed the chance to try out what’s offered by the province’s local restos. One of the restaurants in Legazpi City that we tried was 1st Colonial Grill in Pacific Mall.

While the husband ordered something that’s not so Bicolano, I got Pasta Bicolana (which was more like Aglio Olio with siling labuyo) and the restaurant’s specialty, Colonial Burger. For dessert, we each got a serving of its Sili Ice Cream and Pili Ice Cream. The frozen delights were enough to convince us to come back with Ralph in tow.

Have gourmet ulam everyday with Top Torikatsu

I think I have already written about my boys’ love for Japanese food a number of times already. Japanese food in our family is always considered as a special treat because I don’t usually prepare Japanese food at home. Rap usually orders torikatsu (Japanese for chicken cutlets). Now, there’s no need to rush to a Japanese resto just so he can fulfill his katsu craving because Bounty Fresh now has Top Torikatsu.

See this gorgeous plate I prepared for the boys for dinner…

Amici’s New Italian Dishes and 6th Anniversary Buy 1, Take 1 Promo

Back when we were still living in Makati and Rap was in Prep at the Don Bosco Technical Institute, we would always dine at Amici de Don Bosco. I never got to eat there for lunch because the place would always be full of office workers taking their lunch break. Usually, I would have merienda there with other soccer moms while we wait for our boys to finish their training. Those were such happy times! Their pizza and pasta were my comfort food. The year was 2006.

Fast forward to 2013, the once quaint Italian “carinderia” has now grown to include 7 more branches around the metro under the management of the father and son team of Danny and Philip Moran. Even after acquiring the business from the Salesian priests who set up and managed the restaurant in 2007, the Morans continue to maintain the friendship by supporting Tuloy Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Salesian priest, Fr. Rocky Evangelista. In fact, Php 10 from the sales of items listed in the “Tuloy Speciali” Amici Menu goes directly to the foundation to help fund their projects.
